Kick-Ass

Vintage: 2010

This is a film based on a comic of the same name. Unlike other, more serious, comic adaptations, such as the Spiderman film series, this lies somewhere between the serious (like aforementioned Spiderman) and the spoof (like The Superhero Movie).

Unlike the comic, the film is a little bit more realistic, with some of the differences being in the origin story of Big Daddy and Hit-Girl, and why they start fighting the mob.

The film did have some controversy, because of the fact that a young girl would have to swear on screen, as well as perpetrate a few acts of slightly gory violence, like when Hit Girl arrives, she stabs another character with a katana, as well as killing a lot of other people on screen.

For those who like such comic adaptations as the Batman film series (before Batman Begins), or martial arts films, like D.O.A. (2006), this is a must-see. For everyone else, it's your decision.
